Why Mto wa Mbu

Mto wa Mbu sits where the Rift Valley wall meets the road to Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, and the Serengeti — a farming and trading town built by migrants from across Tanzania. Maasai bomas, Chagga banana groves, Sandawe hunters, and Makonde carvers all live within a short walk of each other.

Every tour on this page is guided by people from the community it visits. Prices are per person unless marked per group, and every route can be adapted to fitness level, interests, and time available.

How the pricing works

Most rates are per person and cover the full listed duration. Tours marked per group — Makonde & dancing, charity, and banana farms — are a flat fee regardless of group size within the stated range. Multi-day rates are shown per person per day; ask us for a full itinerary quote before booking.
